September 2017 – Maps and charts on the Wisconsin State Assembly elections for an article about Gerrymandering for New York Times Magazine. Due to redistricting by the Republicans in 2011 many Democratic voters were efficiently concentrated in a relatively small number of urban districts while the remainder spread out among many districts in the rest of the state. In the next election in 2012 the Democrats won more than 50% of the total votes but only 39 of the 99 districts.
